Twilight Inspiration

Continuing with the muse of Twilight, it is but a whisper, letting go of the day into the night to come. It’s those moments that pervade when something seems insignificant that is open to promise, especially in the Arts. It’s that ability to take that tiny grain of sand let it sit, and become a pearl. Those last moments of light can summarise a day with a light breeze upon a cheek during a summer walk or the clap of thunder above with the wind and rain circling to settle in for a winter evening, or that first moment that the lights in an urban setting begin to twinkle against the silver and steel of the street setting. How often are we missing these small gifts as insignificant to find the inspiration you might be looking for?

Words that describe Twilight to me are a whisper, veil, exotic, soft breath, beauty, breathtaking, alluring, glamorous. To move that into choosing fabrics, I think of organza with its luxurious appearance or another type of sheer fabric like tulle or a veil with a soft sprinkling of shimmer present. A whisper to me is like a delicate detail in a fabric, maybe a light print on a tie, in the same colour as the tie, a soft embellishment in a man’s jacket or the proud Irish man getting ready for a night out in his deep blue velvet evening pants on. It is worthwhile to write descriptive words into your creative journal or daily diary , they aren’t just going to sit in your mind, then you can pause and reflect.

As I started unpacking these words, colours, experiences that become part of my Twilight moments these are some of the fabrics that come the my mind.

I’m not going to sugarcoat it. Finding inspiration for fabrics is challenging but using the palette, the theme of Twilight and thinking of moments with fabrics that aren’t overused at any particular moment will open a door for creativity to get easier. I like the idea of jacquard, embroidery or even a soft paisley with a mix of different wool elements in a contemporary mix. It does come together to make a presentation for something new in either your wardrobe or for a clientele presentation.

Clear your calendar for those moments of the day to allow yourself to think and create, we will walk this out together and create some new ways of doing things. Just breathe, enjoy a glass of wine or something else to have that adult moment, pat yourself for a job well done and sticking with it.

I always find music helps me like this song below, reimagined by Luke Combs. It can be the old reimagined for the new. Stick with me this week for more to come as we look at the client, accessories, outfits and more.
