Complete The Look

The central part of putting a look together is the event, the client’s (or your) tastes and style. Then, blend those with the inspiration and the body shape. These are the significant points.

The Minors

The minor details are just as important, they unify the look and give it an edge, what some used to call the icing on the cake. It is these choices that finish the look.

All About The Eyes

For a few years now, the emphasis has been on lips, the French have a fashion saying of either highlighting the lips or eyes, not both. Moving forward, it would be good to see an emphasis on eyes for men and women. Jared Leto, whose style is theatrical, attended Paris Fashion Week last year with dramatic eyes. His look was a strong statement, while some men might prefer to have a natural tint done to the eyelashes and eyebrows to give a bit more of a definition to the eye area.

There is so much inspiration out there on TikTok or Instagram for women. Something that goes well with your look while emphasising the eyes.

Hair Styles

Boss Hunting Australia did an excellent article on upcoming trends for men in 2024. The styling is deliberate and well groomed not just a la naturale, these are well thought out styles, including faded with beautifully shaped fringes, an elegant shag or undercut with a comb over. My big tip to save time and energy, especially after I have done all the legwork, is to look over the Boss Hunting article. Give it a good look over and it will carry you through 2024.

Continuing the theme of exotic and different in 2024, this includes women’s hair as well. Braiding the front of the hair like a headband, or a cute little braid singly at the front like a mock fringe, is a way of thinking outside the box, rather than a bunch of braids that look like an octopus sitting on top of someone’s head. When things are done a little bit subtle and understated they become that little bit special compared to regular hairdos that have been done to death.

Accessories

Layering jewellery took some time to take off, probably thanks to the lockdowns (feel free to roll your eyes, I do), I think this look will be around for some time because it looks cool. Enough said, cool is good.

Rose gold, white gold and silver would look great with the Twilight theme particularly if the darker colours of blue and green are used. A little bit of sparkle and a little bit of crystal would look pretty special, too.

I do think the detail is what this look is all about. It’s not something that looks a bit haphazard but something that flows and has attention to detail whilst looking fresh.
