The Skin Club

On my Twitter account, we have been doing a watermelon and salad challenge for a few weeks, with great success. So we are kicking off The Skin Club, where beauty is more than skin deep, and we can delve into modern science and the gifts of staying young. We are also at the beginning step for those who want to work in The Arts and Media Industry, between appearing on camera, looking professional, and the sheer physical demands that the industry requires.

The skin renews itself every 3-4 weeks, so nutrition is at the top of the list for skin. Your body is constantly building.

The Skin Club aims to provide free tips for looking great and a Patreon for deeper secrets.

Hydration

The top goal this week is to address adequate hydration. You will have to take the time to calculate your daily water requirements; for example a 6-foot-man will require more water than a small 5-foot-tall woman.

This calculator will help with your fluid intake. Aiming for at least 1 litre or 4 250ml/8oz glasses daily would be a minimum requirement.

Where it gets tricky is the body’s hydration needs, what some people call electrolytes to fire up the body and hydrate correctly. As someone who has lived in very hot climates, I have had my fair share of heat stress and getting told off by a doctor for not eating enough bananas or other potassium rich foods to help with that.

This week, we will quickly hit that with juicing and adding a few bananas or other potassium rich foods to your daily diet. The picture above is a juice I try to have at least once a week. These are fresh juices, not cold pressed juice, which is like drinking dead sugar. Fresh or frozen is best and really, the only option.

This is not an advert, although I will add where I get it in Australia to save people some time. I get my juices from Boost Juice Australia, usually a brunch thing or one in the afternoon. Google freshly made juice near you, wherever you live, or buy a juicer or something similar. The NutriBullet is that basic idea, although I don’t use one and I do not know how good they are.

What Are We Aiming For?

  • Two fresh juices this week, maybe during the week and the other on Sunday, to prep your body for the week. One that is similar to my 2 and 5, as in the picture above and the other could be a small 150ml/4oz green juice. A mixture of different greens with a some fresh lemon or fruit juice is best.
  • Eggs (or, if your diet requires, something with similar nutrients) that you will have 2-3 times this week, either for breakfast or an omelette with a salad, as a main meal.
  • A salad or fresh greens, twice this week (we are building people)
  • Enjoy a glass of red wine with dinner or lunch for two meals, which is excellent for antioxidants.
  • Drink your daily water requirements.

Juicing at home can get messy, so I’d be happy with juicing twice a week.

We are building a new you, stick with this. More action to come next week.

Testimony

When I was at college, a fellow student halved her body weight and transformed herself by packing her food with the help of those lunch cooler bags and frozen cubes. By packing her food for the day, she saved her budget and transformed herself by the end of the year.
