When I’m doing 60-100 hour work weeks, queues relax me when I have finished my day. Doing certain things told my mind, “Okay, I’m finished for today,” and then my body relaxed. Many people want to relax their bodies and then their minds, but the body follows the mind.
Step 1 Refresh
When I finished my day, I would remove my makeup and brush out my hair, followed by a refreshing shower or bath. This takes care of your basic physical needs, getting rid of the grim of the day. Then I have my pyjamas or some loungewear I feel comfortable in. Most of the time, I would put on my dressing gown. If I needed to, having a foot bath in front of the TV helped me wind down, too. What type of pyjamas or loungewear you prefer to wear at home is entirely up to you. However, it must be something you only wear at home and don’t work in. Then your mind knows that queue and thinks your day is done. Time to relax.

Step 2 Pick your Spa Robe
That’s right, pick a spa robe, aka your dressing gown. You will find when attending most spas, that the robes are in a neutral colour, whether white, black or earthy tones. These robes also come in a variety of plush, waffle, and soft comfort cotton versions. If you want to become a connoisseur of robes or dressing gowns, which means someone who is knowledgeable and discerning about these items, more power to you. Ultimately, it is something for you to be comfortable in when home and you are done with the day, whilst coupling with the option of when you don’t get to your favourite day spa, you are set for your facials and foot baths in comfort.
Step 3 A Beverage
We will revisit the home bar or herbal tea options at a later date. Whenever you attend a spa, they offer warm herbal tea, or you can splurge when you get home with a nice glass of red wine. Mineral water with a slice of fruit is an option, too.
These are essential steps to relaxing and having some items for your day spa at home.
