Enjoy Christmas without blowing the budget

I find immense joy in giving and cherish my extensive circle of friends and family. This year, let’s plan a little, have a blast, and reconnect over events or a beverage (at a place of your choice). But remember, next year, we’re going to give our finances a run for their money, quite literally!
We all work hard for what we have and it’s time to secure our financial future and build wealth. That’s why I’m proposing a no-spend January. By making this small sacrifice, we can stretch the joy of the holidays into the new year, without the guilt of overspending.

A number of years ago, I had some goals I wanted to achieve for the new year, so I got creative. I gave myself a budget, wrote everyone’s name down and if they were a couple they could share a present and what they liked next to their name, as a reference for a present. I stuck to my budget and I did it, I did so well everyone complimented my presents because my theory was to stick to their tastes and it worked. It’s the thought and effort you put into personalizing a gift that truly makes it special.
And you know what? It will work for you too. Imagine the joy on your buddy’s face in the office when they unwrap a thoughtful gift from you. It’s not just about the gift, it’s about the warm and fuzzy feeling you’ll both share. So, go out, have a drink, have a laugh, and give them a wrapped gift that they open on Christmas Day or their special day, not before, this draws out the warm and fuzzies, for extra brownie points.
Take your time, arm yourself with that list. Get your gift wrap or bags or whatever you use, and be open minded. Maybe you find a special retro game in a thrift shop, don’t deny your honing skills. Finances can be a great motivator. Remember, the process of gift-giving should be enjoyable, not stressful.
