Now we are in an era that more closely resembles the modern cinema experience. The films are talkies and more curated. Hollywood glamour has come into full swing.
Finding inspiration is not hard; look at old movies for an instant, or at the fashion of that time period.
Of course, for a look at the strict code and tidiness of the war era, Captain America is indeed a contemporary take on the military fashion of WW2.
War was a reality, and things were rationed.
This era destroyed the criminal gangs of the 1930s, but a black market persisted.
